Finding shells and rocks at the river is a really big deal.
That's Isaiah, a freind's son...don't ask me what he's doing. Never ask a 9 yr. old boy what they are doing when they're at the river. You just might not want to know. And, Jason has an itch to scratch.
Sasha loves the water, she's a great swimmer with no fear. Loki, on the other hand, will barely get his feet wet. But he's only 1 and hasn't been on a family lake trip yet. This was his first trip to the river and it was pretty cold. I have a feeling he'll warm up to the idea when he's the only one left on dry land this summer.
We love hiking through the woods, we do this very often. You never know what you'll find. Kylie, however didn't wear jeans (hiking the woods wasn't in the plans that day...) and she toughed it out. She only had half as much blood running down her shins as she used to get. She's getting good at this.
This is the scary Black Locust tree, or "thorny locust", or Crown of Thorns tree. If my sources tell me right, this is the tree they actually made the "crown of thorns" that was placed upon Jesus' head when he was crucified. If you have ever seen one up close and personal it makes you cringe. If only my photography skills were better to capture it's intensity.
Oh, so beautiful...nothing like a seeing a group of rubs like these. Those of you who know me well know how much I love, love, love, rubs. I've said before on a different post in my Hunting Journal that I wish I could take them home and put them on my wall. Somethin' 'bout it....
Hopefully, next weekend I'm going shed antler hunting. Maybe I'll have some more cool pics.
